Modern Towers of Babylon

Oil rich nations in the middle east have started a new race to build the tallest tower in the world. Dubai is in the forefront of constructions and is trying to be a major tourist and buisness hub of the world. Work is already in progress on the Burj Dubai (Burj means 'Tower' in arabic). It is said that this one-billion dollar Burj will reach heights of 700 meters and will have more than 160 stories.

Kuwait had also unveiled a plan to built a 1001 meter tower (that's more than 1Km!!) in its northern city of Subbiya. The city will be nicknamed as the "City of Silk", as its lies on the historic Silk Route connecting Europe with Asia. The city itself will be completed by 2030 and will house some 750,000 people. If you thought nothing could top that, think again. Recently Saudi revealed that it is planning on building a mile - high tower called Burj Al-Meed which will be spread over an area of more than 2 million square. This tower to be located in Jeddah and is estimated to cost $10 billion.

It is recorded in the Bible that early humans made a city with a sky-reaching tower in the plains of Babylonia. "Then the Lord came down to see the city and tower which those men had built, and he said, 'Now then, these are all one people and they speak one language: this is just the beginning of what they are going to do. Soon they will be able to do anything they want!'" (Genesis 11: 5 - 6). So God mixed up their language and he scattered them all over the earth, and they stopped building the city. Now that we have found English as a common language, we are back at it again. With all the money and resources in our hands, we have become arrogant and selfish. Surely God is watching!

Williams 2008

Williams F1 team has finally come out with their 2008 season car, with the first race of the F1 season just around the corner. I have to say that I have always loved the colours of the Williams car, the navy blue and white is just pleasing to my eyes making this car good looking as always. Williams F1 team is entering their 30th year of racing and I am sure this new car will make them one of the best teams in the F1 camp. I am not sure if I will be supporting Williams this season with Narain out of the team and new team "Force India" finding a place on the grid. Surely, I will be a Williams fan deep inside and continue to support them. I am a little excited and looking forward to seeing all the F1 cars on the grid for the super sunday race at Australian GP on 16th March.

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Jenny John !! (actually its on March 4th, ok ok - belated wishes)

I know it sounds a little odd to be wishing myself on my birthday, but whats the problem in congratulating oneself for getting through one very tough year. Biggest gratitude to God for getting me to this point in life. I have reached the 29 milestone and this is my last year in my twenties and it does hit you like a ton of bricks that your youth years are almost over. Achievements are very minimal and life has thrown some major surprises along the way, but I believe all that has happened did for a good reason. One of my friends once told me that, "Our lives are like carpets in the hands of a carpet maker, half way through - the picture on the carpet doesn't make much sense. But when its over, it will be one beautiful masterpiece". Obviously, the question is - What Next?? I am least worried about my future, especially when I have God as my carpet maker. With God I will conquer and it will be one beautiful life ahead.
